James has been with Stronachs for over 20 years, with a focus on transactional work and development projects in the energy sector. He has particular experience with the acquisition and disposal of upstream oil and gas assets and on M&A deals and equity investments into energy services companies.

James also has an interest in advising operators and supply chain on commercial contracts across the energy industry. Experience gained on secondment to oil and gas operators helped develop his understanding of the business drivers of the industry. He also has experience advising supply chain companies on contracts for renewable energy projects.

James has advised on technology development projects and intellectual property matters, while also providing more general corporate and commercial advice.

He was a contributor to “The Technical and Legal Guide to the UK Oil and Gas Industry” and to the three volume “Technical and Legal Guide to Global Hydrocarbons” and has tutored on the Energy Law elective at the University of Aberdeen.
