Stronachs LLP strengthens ties with the next generation by signing up to the Young Person’s Guarantee
Stronachs LLP has pledged its support to the Young Person’s Guarantee (YPG).
The YPG is a Scottish Government initiative led by 21 regional Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) groups, and brings together employers, partners and young people. It aims to connect every 16- to 24-year-old in Scotland to an opportunity. This could be a job, apprenticeship, further or higher education, training or volunteering.
With support from DYW North East and DYW Inverness and Central Highland, Stronachs aims to strengthen its ties with education to deliver opportunities to young people. It currently offers a highly regarded Traineeship Programme, Summer Placement Programme and Work Placements for school pupils. It also regularly connects with local schools and universities to provide students with an insight into a career in law.
The firm is committed to supporting and providing opportunities to young people. In June 2024, it welcomed 6 students from universities across Scotland to take part in its two-week Summer Placement Programme. Over the two-week period students had the chance to work across 2 departments and gain insight into working life at Stronachs. This was in addition to 3 North-east school pupils who joined the firm for a work experience week.
Additionally, the firm welcomed 6 trainees in September 2024 as part of its 2-year Traineeship Programme, where they will have the opportunity to work across up to 4 different seats.
Deborah Law, Partner and Training Lead at Stronachs LLP, said: “We are delighted to demonstrate our commitment to the Young Person’s Guarantee. The initiative enables us to formalise our approach in providing opportunities to the next generation of talent as they enter the legal profession.
“Working closely with our two regional DYW groups in Aberdeen and Inverness, we look forward to strengthening our commitment and exploring additional ways we can support young people interested in a career in law.”
Margo Milne, Director, Developing the Young Workforce North East, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Stronachs to the growing network of employers who are supporting our region’s young people via the Young Person’s Guarantee.
“A career in law can take many different forms, so it is important for the next generation to have an awareness of both the pathways into a legal career and the various specialisms that are open to them. The involvement of organisations such as Stronachs is key to bridging that gap and we look forward to working in partnership.”
